Endpoint Security for CASA

In 2021, the Children's Aid Society of Algoma (CASA) fell victim to a cyber attack that necessitated taking their email servers offline.

It highlighted the urgent need for a robust IT infrastructure that could defend against future threats and ensure seamless communication and data exchange.

The project will service the Children's Aid Society of Algoma (CASA) and their requirement for compliance

audits every quarter to ensure that their IT infrastructure is up-to-date and secure. The audits involve

generating reports that provide detailed information about the organization's endpoints, including

laptops, desktops, and smartphones. The reports include data on the operating system (OS) versions

installed on each endpoint, the latest updates and patches applied, and any assets that are behind on

updates or patches. Additionally, the reports should identify any software that is not up to date.

The key components of the solution are:

1. Endpoint Management and Automation Platform: Usage of ManageEngine Endpoint

Central to establish a centralized platform for managing all endpoints and devices. This

platform will serve as the control center for pushing updates, patches, and managing

configurations.

2. Inventory and Asset Management: Implementation of asset management capabilities to

keep track of all managed endpoints and devices. This will also involve maintaining a

detailed inventory that includes device type (laptops, desktops, smartphones, IoT devices),

OS version, installed software, and patch/update status.

3. Automated Patch and Update Deployment: Configuration of automated update policies

according to predetermined schedules. The system will intelligently deploy updates,

patches, and security fixes to all supervised endpoints and devices, ensuring the latest

software versions and security enhancements.

4. OS and Software Version Tracking: Continuous monitoring of the OS version and

installed software on each endpoint and device. The system will detect outdated versions

and trigger automatic updates to bring them in line with the latest supported versions.

5. Compliance Audit Reports: Development of a reporting module that generates

comprehensive compliance audit reports. These reports will include detailed information

about each endpoint and device, such as OS version, software version, update/patch status,

and any deviations from the defined compliance standards.

We believe in using our cybersecurity expertise for societal improvement. The growth of industry highlights the relevance and potential of technology in all aspects of life.
